Accession: 2001-51-1+2 Pocket Watch, Admiral George Dewey 2.75" H X 2" W Admiral George Dewey's personal pocket watch. Admiral Dewey was the only person to be awarded the title Admiral of the Navy for his role in the Spanish American War. The watch is gold, with a separate dial for measuring seconds. The watch has a serial# 911 with makers initials, " JTW" . The obverse of the watch case is engraved with "GD" Collection of Curator Branch Naval History and Heritage Command.
