Period

Qing dynasty (1644–1911), dated 1916

This Chinese glass snuff bottle features inside-painted decoration created by the artist Ma Shaoxuan (1867–1939). Dated to 1916 during the Qing dynasty period designation in the record, the vessel is rendered in clear glass with faceted edges and is fitted with a rounded green stopper. It measures 6.6 × 4.4 × 2.9 cm (2 5/8 × 1 3/4 × 1 1/8 in.).

The internal pictorial decoration depicts human figures in a setting with furniture, rendered in polychrome pigments alongside painted calligraphy and a small red seal mark on the upper portion of the bottle's face. The execution utilizes the reverse-glass painting technique applied through the narrow neck of the vessel.
