Tool
Identify an object by photo
Upload a clear photograph. An AI model describes what it can see, and we search the catalogue for records that may match. Suggestions are starting points for your own checking — never an identification, grade or valuation.
Photograph one side in even light against a plain background. Your photo is analysed once and is not stored.
1. The model only describes
The AI lists visible clues — inscriptions, portraits, denominations, shapes and materials — and proposes search phrases. It never names a catalogue number, date or maker on its own.
2. The catalogue does the matching
Those phrases search the published catalogue. Every suggestion is a real record with its own photographs, confidence level and cited references — nothing is invented to fill a gap.
3. You make the final check
Compare your object against the record's photographs, specifications and sources. A suggestion is a starting point, never an identification, grade or valuation.
Prefer to work from the object itself? The identification guides walk through inscriptions, marks and materials step by step, and the glossary explains the terminology used on every record.
