Historical context

A brockage is caused when the previously struck coin sticks in one of the dies and is therefore used to strike the next coin. In this case the position of the dies, held by hand, varied so that the numeral '7' was on the stuck coin while the placement on this strike took that incuse '7' off the flan and brought the relief '9' on.

The VS date of the coin is 1879 with the last two numerals on the die separated by the leaf.
