1907 and 1912

This collectible ensemble comprises a child's thimble and a matching sterling silver carry case. The thimble measures 13.5mm by 10.9mm and was crafted by James Fenton, bearing Birmingham hallmarks for 1907.

Accompanying the thimble is a protective sterling silver case measuring 82mm by 16mm, which is equipped with a chain and a ring holder for portability. The case was manufactured by Adie & Lovekin Ltd and is hallmarked Birmingham 1912. The set has a combined weight of 14 grams. Both pieces reflect early 20th-century British silversmithing, providing a functional and decorative accessory set for a young seamstress of the era.

The juxtaposition of the diminutive thimble and the slender tubular case, complete with its original suspension chain, highlights the specialized personal accoutrements produced during this period.
