Playing card is held by World Museum Vienna. Museum description: Josef Troll (1844–1919) Josef Troll was born in Wien-Leopoldstadt, Vienna's 2nd municipal district, as the son of a wealthy bourgeois family. Soon after studying law in Kraków, he gave up the legal profession. From his fortieth year onwards, several journeys that he prepared meticulously took him to parts of Asia almost or completely untouched by tourism. He purposefully collected oriental arts and crafts for Viennese museums, which he donated to them or provided against reimbursement of costs. The museum record gives material recorded as Wood, pigments, lacquer; measurements 4 x 6 cm; place associated: Western Asia/Middle East/Iran. These details come from the holding museum's own record; how far this object represents a wider collectible type has not yet been independently verified.
