In the Joseph II Limited Edition writing instruments we find filigree finishes taken from the ornaments of the royal coat of arms. Its design is inspired by the imperial coat of arms of the monarch, immortalized with a precious engraving on the 18 carat champagne gold nib (Edition 4810). For 2012, Montblanc has chosen to focus on a very important historical figure, Joseph II, Holy Roman Emperor from 1764 to 1790. Beyond his importance in the political sphere, the monarch is recognized for the particular sensitivity demonstrated in the development of the arts that led to the rebirth of Vienna as a cultural capital. The Montblanc firm was founded in 1906, and in 1913 the star that is its emblem and hallmark of the house was created.

It is a round white star that represents the snow that covers the summit of Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Europe, and symbolizes the commitment of the brand as European manufacturers of objects of the highest quality and distinction.
