This Hamilton Model 22 marine chronometer is a highly precise timepiece manufactured for the U.S. Navy during the Second World War. The watch features a 21-jewel caliber 22 movement, adjusted to temperature and six positions for navigation accuracy.

The ivory-colored dial displays bold Arabic numerals, a fine minute track, an up/down power reserve indicator positioned below the twelve o'clock marker, and a small seconds sub-dial above the six o'clock position. The hands include black pear-shaped hour and baton minute indicators. The piece is housed in a screw-on dust cover engraved with military identification markings. The chronometer is complete with its original two-part mahogany transport case system, both lined with green felt; the inner case features a glazed lid with internal silver instruction plate, while the outer case serves as a protective exterior, reflecting the standard of military-issued navigational equipment required for longitude determination at sea.
