Period

1898

This Russian commemorative jeton was presented in 1898 to Nicolas Fligué upon his graduation from the Imperial Alexandrovsky Lyceum in Saint Petersburg. The piece is crafted from gold and silver, featuring a circular design with red enamel inlay.

The central motif displays a gold imperial crown above an ornate gold cypher, flanked by the dates '18' and '11'. The reverse side includes a hallmark indicating '56', the standard for Russian gold at the time. With a diameter of 25 mm and a weight of 10.88 grams, the object is an example of the personalized insignias awarded to the graduates of this elite educational institution. Nicolas Fligué, to whom this item was granted, was a chamberlain of the imperial court and later an active figure in the white émigré community dedicated to preserving the history and archives of the Alexandrovsky Lyceum in exile.
