Period
c.1930s
This collectible set from the 1930s consists of three promotional items manufactured for the German pharmaceutical firm Schering. The set includes a button-filler fountain pen, a matching propelling pencil, and a cased thermometer.
All three pieces are finished in black hard rubber and feature the Schering brand name engraved in gilt script. The fountain pen, believed to be a variation of the Montblanc No. 25, measures 128mm in length and is equipped with a gold-plated teardrop-shaped pocket clip and a 14K gold circle-vent nib with medium flexibility. It features a characteristic domed cap top design. The matching propelling pencil measures 131mm in length.
The accompanying thermometer is 100mm long and is housed in a 107mm protective case. These items served as corporate promotional goods for the medical industry during the early 20th century, combining high-quality German manufacturing by Montblanc with professional pharmaceutical branding. The pen and pencil represent typical writing instrument styles of the late 1920s to early 1930s period.
