Historical context

The Bank of Republic of Paraguay appears instead of the Oficina de Cambios under direct control of the Treasury Department. The “Oficina de Cambios” (Exchange Office) was cancelled by Decree no. 9 of the Executive Power (the President), on February 22th., 1936, because of a political change in the government. The new government, by Decree no. 11 (February 22th., 1936) , created the “Banco de la Republica del Paraguay” to replace the previous “Oficina de Cambios”.
