Silver 8-day pocket watch with visible lever escapement, 1918

This 8-day pocket watch features a keyless winding mechanism with a push button to set the hands, and a mainspring that occupies the entire diameter of the case. It has a white enamel face decorated with silver floral motifs and an exposed, visible lever escapement. The sterling silver case is machine-engraved and bears hallmarks for Birmingham, 1918.
The dial is marked "Hebdomas Patent 8-days. Swiss made." The barrel cover is inscribed "spiral Breguet Levees Visibles, qualité superieure garantie" and lists exhibition award dates of 1892, 1896, 1900, 1906, and 1910. The watch is preserved in a velvet-lined aluminium container with a yellowed plastic cover, engraved on the back "Pioneer / BRITISH MAKE / 22 1/2". It is held in the Applied Arts and Design collection at Auckland Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira.
