Historical context
Omega was founded by Louis Brandt in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1848, operating as Louis Brandt et Fils until incorporating the name Omega in 1903. In 1917, Britain's Royal Flying Corps used Omega watches for combat units. During the First World War, the French general Henri Mathias Berthelot served in Romania, where he helped rebuild the Romanian Army in 1917 and returned in the final days of the war.
