This oval, spherical pocket watch dating to circa 1630 features a steel case with an upward-opening lid that is blued on the interior, fastened with a top hinge and a bottom spring catch. The top is fitted with a spherical steel ring carrying a brass ring, and the back features an aperture for the winding arbor protected by a rotating, domed steel cover.
Inside is a steel dial bearing an engraved circle graduated 1–12 with red Arabic numerals, with each hour divided into half-hours and fifths. The movement is crafted from brass and steel and is signed by the French watchmaker H. Ester, recorded active between 1630 and 1660.
