This English open-face pocket watch, hallmarked in London in 1864, features a silver dial with gold numerals, blued hands, and a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o'clock. The case is decorated with the monogram "JH" on the reverse and bears the initials of casemaker E.M.
The movement is an undersprung English fusee mechanism with a lever escapement and a dust cap. The serial number 502 is stamped on both the movement back plate and the case. The watch forms part of the Applied Arts and Design collection at the Auckland Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira, having entered the collection in 1951 as a gift from J. W. Hansell.
