This 1869 pocket watch features an engine-engraved hunting case. The inner dome bears an engraved presentation inscription: "Presented to Mr James Kernick by the shareholders of the Llandberries Q.M.Co. Ballarat, October 19th 1869."
The watch is fitted with an enamel dial that includes a sunken seconds dial, with the maker's name marked below the 12 position. The movement is a full plate oversprung fusee lever with screwed plates, a left-hand train, a jewelled escape wheel, and a cut balance with a diamond endstone. The piece is part of the Applied Arts and Design collection at the Auckland Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira, presented as a gift from Mrs C G Kernick.
