This 18 ct. gold lady's fob watch features an engraved hunting case, a key-wind mechanism, and a cylinder escapement. Its gold dial is adorned with a floral design at the center and bears the maker's signature "MATHEY GENEVE". The back of the case is engraved with the name "Charlotte Taylor".
The watch is accompanied by a double gold chain fitted with a winding key and a gold-plated sovereign case engraved on the exterior with the initials "JMD". The ensemble includes a dark burgundy leather box with gold detailing and blue velvet lining etched with "TAYLOR" on the base, along with a glazed wooden frame and an original sales receipt dated June 21, 1875, indicating it was purchased in Invercargill. It forms part of the Applied Arts and Design collection.
