Gold quarter repeating hunting case pocket watch, 1893

This hunting case pocket watch features an 18-carat gold case with a flat glass cover. The exterior of the case is undecorated, while the inside is hallmarked. The white enamel dial is fitted with blue hour, minute, and second hands, and includes a one-minute subsidiary dial positioned at 6 o'clock.
The watch is powered by a stem-wound, pin-set quarter-repeating movement equipped with a cut balance and an overcoil spring. The dome is engraved with the presentation inscription: "Presented to Edwin Bamford by the members of the legal profession in the Hawkes Bay Registration District 28th Sept 1893". It was gifted by Miss Nancy R. Bamford in 1985 to the Auckland Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira, where it forms part of the Applied Arts and Design collection.
