This gentleman's silver pocket watch with a hunting case is hallmarked Sheffield 1907. The exterior is fully engraved with a cartouche and initials on the front, and one watch paper is preserved in the back of the case. The case and dust cap are marked with serial number 55843, and the case features the name "John Thomson" in copperplate script.
The watch features an enamel dial with Roman numeral chapters and a subsidiary dial. The movement is a full-plate going lever mechanism configured with an undersprung dummy fusee and a cut balance. Previously belonging to the donor's father, the watch was gifted by Miss M. Thomson to the Auckland Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira.
