This pair case verge pocket watch features a repoussé outer case depicting a cock surrounded by flowers and shells. It is fitted with a convex enamel dial with blue figures and two club hands.
The movement is constructed of heavy gilt brass with pierced pillars and a verge escapement. It has a pendulated brass balance controlled by a balance spring with two turns. The watch forms part of the Applied Arts and Design collection from the Collection of the Mackelvie Trust Board (1931), on loan to Auckland Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira.

Historical context
