This oval alarm pocket watch features silver front and back covers and pierced brass sides. The front cover incorporates an early watch glass in a demi-hunter style, and the back cover is equipped with rotating winding hole covers.
The engraved silver dial has a single hand and gold touch pins positioned on a champlevé chapter ring. The movement includes a verge escapement with a pierced cock and foot, divided square pillars, and a fusee with gut. The regulator includes an index dial, which is an 18th-century alteration that replaced an original hog's bristle mechanism. The watch is part of the Applied Arts and Design collection from the Mackelvie Trust Board (acquired 1931), on loan to Auckland Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira.
