Open-face 18ct gold pocket watch with duplex escapement

This open-face pocket watch is housed in an 18ct gold, machine-engraved case with a winding key attached to the bow. It features a flat enamel dial with a flush seconds dial, a spade hour hand, and the maker's signature situated beneath the 12 o'clock position.
The movement is fitted with a three-quarter plate, fusee and chain, a duplex escapement, a compensated balance, a diamond balance end-stone, and a screwed back plate. The object forms part of the Applied Arts and Design collection at Auckland Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira, to which it was gifted by Mrs D A Gray in 1940.
