Pair case silver-gilt and shagreen verge pocket watch

This object is a pair case verge pocket watch featuring a silver-gilt inner case and a shagreen (stingray skin) outer case lined with watch paper at the back. It lacks a glass covering, and one hand is missing.
The movement is fitted with a verge escapement, shaped square pillars, a pierced balance cock and foot, an index dial plate, and a worm gear for setting the mainspring. It features an enamel dial with 5-minute numerals outside the chapters. Serial number 87 appears on the back plate, and several marks, including "Lindsay Duncannon" alongside illegible markings, are stamped inside the inner case. The watch is preserved in the Applied Arts and Design collection of the Auckland Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira, where it was acquired in 1954 as a gift from Mr A T Pycroft.
