Open-face 18 ct. gold fusee lever pocket watch

This is an open-face pocket watch fitted with a full-plate undersprung fusee lever movement, jewelled to the third wheel, and featuring a steel balance with a diamond endstone.
The heavy open-faced case is constructed from 18-carat gold and encloses an enamel dial with a flush seconds sub-dial. The inside of the back case is stamped with the initials "CM" and hallmarked with a crown and "18". The watch is preserved in the Applied Arts and Design collection of the Auckland Museum Tāmaki Paenga Hira, having entered the collection as a gift from Mrs C G Kernick.
