19th century

This 19th-century Russian snuff box is crafted from silver, featuring an interior finished in gilt. The object is of a rectangular form, measuring 8.5 cm in width and weighing 98.9 grams (3.17 ozt).

The lid is highly detailed, featuring an engraving of two classical figures complemented by niello-style decorative elements. The construction includes a hinge mechanism for the lid, which sits flush when closed but operates loosely without friction. Although the specific production year is obscured by wear to the hallmark, the object dates to the 19th century.
