Period

19th century

A 19th-century Russian silver snuff box featuring an engraved scene of a cathedral. The rectangular box is decorated on the lid with a detailed architectural view, likely of a landmark, set within a stylized decorative border.

The body of the box is also adorned with fine engraved patterns, including leaf-like motifs along the edges. The object is hallmarked with the '84' silver standard, the city coat of arms for Moscow, a master’s mark 'FM', and an assay master’s mark 'A.G' above the date '189.'. The box measures approximately 6.8 cm by 4 cm by 1.7 cm and has a gross weight of 63 grams. This portable decorative container represents traditional Russian silversmithing techniques from the 19th century, combining utility with fine metal engraving.
