This 1872 silver association double thaler (2 Thaler) was issued by the Kingdom of Saxony to commemorate the golden wedding anniversary of King Johann and Queen Amalie Auguste.

The obverse features the staggered bust portraits of the royal couple facing to the right, encircled by the inscription "JOHANN KOENIG" and "AMALIE KOENIGIN V. SACHSEN". The reverse side displays a crown positioned above the commemorative dates "1822 – 10. NOVEMBER – 1872", which are framed by decorative oak leaf and laurel wreaths. At the base of the reverse design is the mint mark "B" indicating production at the Dresden mint.

Struck in an edition of approximately 50,000 pieces, the coin has a diameter of 40 mm. This commemorative issue celebrates the marriage of the monarch, who reigned from 1854 to 1873, and his consort. The physical composition is silver, representing a significant historical numismatic piece from the late 19th-century German states.
