Snuff bottle, white jade, Qing Dynasty, 1800-1850

Circa 1800–1850 Of elegant flattened rounded form with a cylindrical neck and recessed oval panels on either side, the bottle is finely carved from a fine piece of white nephrite of even, creamy tone. The stone displays a smooth, lustrous polish and subtle translucency, highlighting the natural beauty and refined texture of the material.

The interior is skillfully hollowed with relatively even walls, reflecting the accomplished workmanship characteristic of the Qing court style during the early nineteenth century. The bottle is fitted with a green hardstone stopper.
