This original vintage travel poster, titled 'Suisse Septentrionale' (North-West Switzerland), was designed by the acclaimed artist Alois Carigiet in 1944. It was created for the Swiss National Tourist Office as a featured piece in their prestigious 'La Suisse Terre de Beauté' (Beautiful Switzerland) campaign.

The artwork portrays a serene, panoramic view of northwestern Switzerland, showcasing a landscape defined by winding rivers, fertile agricultural fields, historic villages, and a railway traversing the countryside under a broad, atmospheric sky. Carigiet utilized an expressive brushwork technique and a rich, vibrant color palette to highlight the harmony of the rural landscape. The poster was produced via the stone lithographic process by the printing house Wolfsberg in Zürich.

Measuring 25.75 by 24 inches, this piece is currently conservation mounted and linen-backed. The work is recognized as a significant contribution to mid-century Swiss graphic design, reflecting both the regional identity of Switzerland and the artistic evolution of travel advertising during the post-war period.
