This object is a printed picture postcard titled 'Avant!.....aprés', produced around 1902 and attributed as probably German. Executed as a lithograph using printing ink on card, the postcard measures approximately 9 cm in height by 14 cm in width.
The recto of the postcard depicts three sequential narrative scenes. The first scene shows a well-dressed man in his prime, wearing a frock coat and white trousers, confidently aiming a stream of urine toward a rock outdoors, while a woman approaches in the distance along a path. The central scene shows the couple walking together arm in arm under an umbrella. In the third scene, the man is shown stooped over inside a room, urinating painfully into a chamber pot beside a small cabinet table stocked with medicines and bottles. The inscription 'Avant!.....aprés' is printed across the upper recto.
