Period

c. 1920s-1930s

This French Art Deco mantel clock dates to the 1920s-1930s and features an elegant arched case constructed from richly mottled red Griotte marble, supported by a rectangular plinth base.

The front of the clock is embellished with decorative gilt brass filigree overlays that incorporate stylized geometric fans, floral rosettes, and scrolling motifs. Set into the marble is a white enameled porcelain dial featuring Arabic numerals and dual winding apertures for the mechanical movement. The timepiece was manufactured by the renowned French maker Samuel Marti and retailed by Alliol & Erdreich. The movement carries a stamp referencing the gold medal awarded to Samuel Marti at the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle, alongside serial number 882 and production numbers 5 and 2.

Measuring approximately 9.5 inches in height, 15 inches in length, and 5.5 inches in width, the clock represents the distinct aesthetic sensibilities of the Art Deco period. Note that this timepiece is presented in its current state without a pendulum assembly or winding key.
