This collection comprises a significant group of Second World War campaign medals and military insignia belonging to Captain W. A. Hapgood-Strickland of the Cheshire Regiment, formerly of the Royal Engineers.
The set includes the 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, and the War Medal 1939-45, the latter featuring an M.I.D. oak leaf. Accompanying these items are a riband bar, a cap badge, rank insignia, various cloth unit insignia, and multiple buttons. Also included is a framed Mentioned in Despatches certificate dated 23 March 1944, issued to Lieutenant W. A. Hapgood-Strickland.
