Small denomination (bronze) struck at Madytos in Thrace, dated c. 350 BC. Corpus Nummorum, the online type corpus of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, records it as CN type 20008 (period: Classical Period; issuing authority type: city).

Obverse: Bull charging left, butting with head. Reverse: Dog seated right. Legend: ΜΑΔΥ. Measured specimens give a mean weight of 1.35 g (mean of 2 recorded specimens) and a diameter of 11.9 mm (from 1 recorded specimen). Historical context

Madytus, also known as Madytos, was an ancient Greek port and city located in Thrace within the Thracian Chersonesos, situated nearly opposite Abydos. Originally an Aeolian colony from Lesbos founded during the colonization movement of the 8th and 7th centuries BC, the city later joined the Delian League. During the fourth century BC, Madytos issued bronze coins bearing the inscription ΜΑΔΥ.
