c. 1650

This West Country silver Apostle spoon originates from the Commonwealth period, approximately c. 1650. The spoon features a distinctive terminal depicting St. Peter, which is finished with gilding.

Measuring 20 cm in length and weighing 2 oz, the object is crafted from silver. The bowl of the spoon is engraved with the initials 'P.S.T' and carries the date '1659'. While the piece is unascribed in its origins, it represents a traditional form of ecclesiastical and domestic table ware from the mid-17th century. The physical condition includes a repair to the terminal and some loss to the gilding. The bowl exhibits a few small dents, along with minor nicks and scratches consistent with its age and use.

As a notable example of 17th-century silversmithing, the piece displays the characteristic craftsmanship associated with the period's regional styles.
