Its founding can be traced back to the breakthrough of the Boch Frères company in the ceramic tile industry in the second half of the 19th century, which triggered a wave of factory foundations. Among these was the stoneware floor tile factory "Société Générale de Produits Réfractaires et Céramiques de Morialmé". In its sales catalogues, the company offered "cladding tiles" for walls in addition to floor tiles. The first tiles with Art Nouveau motifs were sold after 1905.
