Tile with Floral Art Nouveau Decor, Keramikfabrik Utzschneider & Co. (Saargemünd) is held by Badisches Landesmuseum Karlsruhe. Museum description: The founding of a small pottery in 1790 begins in Sarreguemines (Saargemünd) with the brothers Nicolas and Augustin Jacoby and Joseph Fabry. Augustin Jacoby's shares were purchased in 1799 by Paul Utzschneider, who was from Bavaria. A short time later, the shares of his brother Nicolas Jacoby were also transferred to Paul Utzschneider and Joseph Fabry. From then on, the company was given the name "Fabry Utzschneider & Compagnie". Starting in 1808, new techniques were introduced by Utzschneider to produce white earthenware modelled on English examples as well as white and red Wedgwood ware. In 1828, transfer-printed decorations were also offered. The Continental Blockade against English goods enabled the company to expand in the 1820s. From 1836, the management of the manufactory was handed over to Baron Alexandre de Geiger (1808-1891), the husband of Pauline, Utzschneider's daughter.
