Sheepfold Ladle, 1930

Sheepfold Ladle, 1930 is held by Moldova National Museum Complex, dated 1930. Museum description: The sheepfold ladle has an ovoid bowl and a straight handle, perforated at the end opposite the bowl; the hole, semicircular in shape, with a slight decorative touch, was used for hanging on a nail to dry or when not in use. At the same end, the handle is bevelled and ends in a slightly pointed tip; the same type of termination, slightly more pronounced, is also found at the junction of the handle with the bowl. Both tips create a pleasant aesthetic impression. The handle, towards the bowl, over a section of approx. 14 cm, is narrower, a feature that can also be observed, over a smaller area, at the other end. The bowl is noticeably curved in relation to the position of the handle, primarily due to the manner in which it was hollowed out. On the handle, towards the end opposite the bowl, over a section of 23 cm, there are no fewer than four groups of marks, which have been identified as dating the year of manufacture The museum record gives measurements handle length: 50 cm; bowl diameter: 26 cm; length: 75 cm; width: handle: 5 cm.
