Period
1979
This Georg Jensen silver spoon, dating to 1979, is an example of twentieth-century Scandinavian-influenced silversmithing. The piece is constructed from planished silver, a technique that leaves visible hammering marks on the surface, giving it a distinctive textured appearance.
Measuring 15.1 cm in length and possessing a gross weight of 47 grams, the spoon features a functional, smooth bowl and a handle that terminates in a decorative motif. The terminal is inset with a single carnelian cabochon, providing a smooth, reddish contrast to the cool-toned metal. The design includes refined detailing at the junction of the bowl and handle. Authentication is confirmed through an engraved 'Georg Jensen' signature on the reverse of the stem, accompanied by official London import marks for Georg Jensen Ltd dated to 1979.
This item was presented in an associated box from the Austrian silversmithing firm L. Jarosinski & J. Vaugoin.
