Period
1938-1945
This German Third Reich-era insignia served as a membership plaque for the Nationalsozialistische Reichskriegerbund (NSRKB), the state-controlled veterans' association active between 1938 and 1945.
The insignia is a large, circular, multi-piece plaque measuring 52mm in diameter. It is constructed from stamped metal and features detailed enamel work. The outer ring is finished in black enamel and contains the silver-colored inscription "Mitglied des NS-Reichskriegerbundes" (Member of the National Socialist Reich Warriors' Federation). The central element is a large, inverted red enamel shield displaying a cross pattée, which resembles an Iron Cross, with a black enamel center and a silvered border.
Located at the very center of the cross is a small circle enclosing a black swastika. Above the lower point of the shield, the date 1786 is featured, referencing the founding year of the original Prussian military veterans' association. The plaque is designed for permanent mounting, evidenced by two small holes at the bottom intended for affixing it with nails or screws to display objects such as book covers, ceremonial staffs, or membership boards.
