Period
circa 1900
This Rococo Revival mantel clock, dating to circa 1900, features a Continental porcelain case housing an American movement by the New Haven Clock Company. The elaborate, molded porcelain structure is adorned with intricate scrolls, shellwork, blue foliate ornamentation, and delicate pink shading, all accented with gilding.
Surmounting the clock is a sculpted, seated female figure. The front of the case includes a pierced lattice panel beneath the dial, which is further embellished with applied flowers. The sides are decorated with pastoral figural scenes set within gilt borders. The timepiece features a white dial displaying black Arabic numerals and a subsidiary seconds dial, protected by a glazed bezel. The manufacturer's signature is present on the dial and the rear movement, which also bears evidence of service markings.
Measuring 15 inches in height, 9 inches in width, and 5 inches in depth, the piece reflects the ornate aesthetic typical of the late 19th and early 20th-century porcelain clock production.
