Postcard, Georges Mouton, France, ca. 1903
Record status
Individual type · partial
Period
ca. 1903
A postcard depicting two nuns sporting huge wimples standing near the life-size statue of a nude Hercules grasping a club. The young one is eyeing the crotch of the statue with interest while the older is looking away and fingering her rosary. The inscription in both French and English is full of mistakes and translates: 'Comparision? Heaven we said there is our dear abbé.'
It was acquired in 1960 by E.J. Dingwell.
