Record status

Individual type · partial

Period

ca. 1630

Lock of steel that is pierced, engraved and chiselled. Rectangular in shape, of the three sometimes described as a 'masterpiece' lock. Shooting three bolts, the key fits in to a sleeve cut with a triangular groove.

The lock plate is pierced with a composition of scrollwork and monsters and engraved with baldachins and pendant bunches of fruit in a style reminiscent of the designs of Etienne Delaune. On the outer side of the lock is a chiselled lions mask.
