The clock case is made of brass sheet, riveted at the edges and secured with pins at the back. The front has an engraved stylized ornament of four flowers and foliage around a circular pane of brown glass set in a mount.
The edges at the bottom and around the clock have sawn-out floral motifs. The decoration around the clock repeatedly tapers to a point. On top, a green piece of glass is set in a cross. The dial, on which the numerals are indicated in black, is made of ivory. The cut glass pane is set in a hinged mount. The sides and top have engraved decoration. On the sides, two oval pieces of cut brown glass are mounted to the left and right.
The base of coromandel wood has a carved ornament on the front with leaves and two mice, as well as a mouse on each side. A turtle is carved at the ends of the rim. The brass keyhole escutcheon is decorated with two sawn-out rosettes. A stylized rose is engraved on the back of the clock, which is the vignette of the firm E.J. van Wisselingh & Co. This is surrounded by the letter L (for Lesener, the maker of the mantel clock) and the monogram TN (for Theo Nieuwenhuis, the designer) and the year 1898.
