Record status

Individual type · partial

Period

1650

The pear-shaped bowl is joined by means of a needle to the four-sided stem, which is curved and constricted at the junction, and straight thereafter. The short, constricted section is faceted on the upper side.

Where the four-sided section splits, the impression is given that the faceted section joins it. The stem is separated by a moulding, enclosed on both sides by a wreath of engraved leaf motifs, from the finial in the form of a goat's foot with a naturalistically worked surface. The Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, holds this object as BK-NM-10932; its record gives material recorded as silver (metal); measurements length 17.8 cm x weight 52 g.

Description translated from the museum's Dutch catalogue text; details are those of this museum object, and how far it represents a wider type has not been independently verified.
