This circular bronze medal was produced in 1861 as the jubilee medal of the Royal University of Norway. The design was conceived by G. Loos, and the physical medal was executed and made by W. Kullrich. Originating from Norway, the piece was produced using casting techniques in bronze and measures approximately 4.26 cm in diameter.

The obverse face depicts a classical relief scene featuring a seated mythological or allegorical figure wearing a helmet and draped garments, interacting with a standing lion. Surrounding the upper perimeter of the central composition is an arched Latin inscription, and smaller markings are visible in the exergue at the base.
