This object is a resin rapid prototype master model for the reverse of a medal commemorating the 50th anniversary of the discovery of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). Designed by Peter Brian Musson in London in 2002, the piece was produced using computer software and cut with a CAD/CAM milling machine as part of the developmental design process for a finished cast silver medal.

Circular in form, the model measures 73 mm in diameter. The surface design features representations of nuclei surrounded by irregular concentric lines meant to symbolize human fingerprints. Inscribed around the perimeter are the words 'DEOXYNUCLEIC ACID' and '50 YEARS'. The object is executed in translucent resin.
