This object is a triangular wrought iron padlock produced in Switzerland during the seventeenth century by an unknown maker. The padlock features a distinct triangular body topped with a heavy curved shackle. Its front and back are reinforced with a central vertical, file-shaped brand or plate, which accommodates a centrally placed keyhole on the face.

The padlock measures 13.2 cm in height and 10.9 cm in width. The associated key, also made of wrought iron, measures 10.2 cm in length and is configured with a circular bow and a plain bit. The entire assembly displays the dark, textured surface typical of historic hand-wrought ironwork.
