Period

World War II-era

This World War II-era German SA-Wehrmannschaft armband represents the official insignia of the Sturmabteilung’s paramilitary training units. Crafted from crimson-red cotton, the armband measures approximately 4.25 inches in width and 16 inches in internal circumference.

Its construction features neatly folded, machine-stitched edges and a vertical rear seam. The centerpiece is a white rayon roundel machine-stitched to the fabric, bearing the SA-Wehrabzeichen (SA Defense Badge) in a machine-woven 'Bevo' style. The emblem depicts an upright Roman sword superimposed over a swastika, encircled by an oak leaf wreath in golden-yellow and brown rayon threads. Affixed to the interior is an original paper Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) tag, which served as the official NSDAP quality control mark.

This tag includes the RZM logo, the material code 'B' for cotton, the organization's title, and the control number 'Nº 344489'. The armband serves as a significant example of wartime paramilitary equipment utilized for civilian home-front training, documenting the standardization of insignia production through government-licensed manufacturing.
