Large denomination (bronze) struck at Kabyle in Thrace, dated c. 250–183 BC. Corpus Nummorum, the online type corpus of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, records it as CN type 11768 (period: Hellenistic Period; issuing authority type: city).

Obverse: Male head, left, wearing helmet. Reverse: Artemis (Phosphorus), enthroned, facing, holding torch in each hand; to right, club. Measured specimens give a mean weight of 2.09 g (from 1 recorded specimen) and a diameter of 10–13 mm (from 1 recorded specimen). Historical context

This bronze coin was struck at Kabyle, an inland town in ancient Thrace situated on the river Tonsus to the west of Develtus. Also known as Cabyle, Kabile, Calybe, or Kalibe, the settlement later bore the names Diospolis and Goloë. The issue dates to the Hellenistic Period, c. 250–183 BC, when Kabyle exercised civic authority to produce its own local coinage.
