Historical context
Anchialos, modern Pomorie in southeastern Bulgaria on the Black Sea coast, was an ancient city in Thrace that struck civic bronze coinage during the Roman Imperial Period. Publius Septimius Geta was the younger son of Emperor Septimius Severus and served as Roman emperor alongside his father and his older brother Caracalla from 209 to 211. This four-unit bronze piece dates to circa AD 208–209, around the time of his elevation.
